{"id":1199,"date":"2015-04-23T00:30:00","date_gmt":"2015-04-23T00:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kinshipradio.org\/home\/2015\/04\/23\/when-god-is-not-subtle\/"},"modified":"2015-04-23T00:30:00","modified_gmt":"2015-04-23T00:30:00","slug":"when-god-is-not-subtle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kinshipradio.org\/home\/when-god-is-not-subtle\/","title":{"rendered":"When God is Not Subtle"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-PqErwhkeDJQ\/VTg7sTe8YpI\/AAAAAAAAApA\/6yj8hiW4LHY\/s1600\/eikon_1129_02.jpg\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[gallery-8FF9]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"https:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-PqErwhkeDJQ\/VTg7sTe8YpI\/AAAAAAAAApA\/6yj8hiW4LHY\/s1600\/eikon_1129_02.jpg\" height=\"300\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">When we look at the current state of affairs in regard to Christianity and see how bad they look, what is really going on?<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">One of my good friends recently posted this verse on the internet:<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites. (Exodus 1:12 NIV)<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Let\u2019s wrap some \u201ccontext\u2019 around that. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">The background on that verse is that, after Joseph died, a new king who knew nothing of Joseph came to reign over Egypt. He saw the Israelites growing in number and worried that they would side with Egypt\u2019s enemies and overthrow the country should war break out. So, the Israelites were enslaved and put to hard labor.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">But, still their numbers grew. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">So, the king mandated that all male Hebrew babies be killed. But that&nbsp;didn&#8217;t&nbsp;work&nbsp;either.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">It was out of that murderous mandate that Moses was hidden in the reeds of the Nile and eventually was chosen by God to oppose Pharaoh and set the Israelites free.<span> (Exodus 2.)<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">God specifically tells Moses that He will harden Pharaoh\u2019s heart so that when God stretches out His mighty hand against Pharaoh, the Egyptians will know He is the LORD.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">In other words, God purposefully made it as difficult as He possibly could for everybody involved.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Since He is God,&nbsp;couldn&#8217;t&nbsp;He have just softened Pharaoh\u2019s heart? The Couldn&#8217;t&nbsp;God&nbsp;have&nbsp;made it so that Moses says to Pharaoh, \u201cThe LORD God says, &#8220;Let my people go!\u2019\u201d <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">And Pharaoh replies, \u201cOkay.\u201d <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">No multiple plagues with snakes and frogs and locusts and gnats and flies and hail and boils and the Nile turning to blood, ending with the first-born male children of Egypt dying in an ironic God-like twist. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">No chasing across the desert, no parting the Red Sea at the last minute\u2026<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Surely, the movie wouldn\u2019t have been nearly as big at the box office.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">But that\u2019s not what happened.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">So, why all the drama? <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Moses himself spends an inordinate amount of time in Exodus 3 and 4 coming up with excuses to <b><i>God <\/i><\/b>as to why God\u2019s own plan won\u2019t work: <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">\u201cI don\u2019t know your name.\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">\u201cI don\u2019t speak very well.\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">\u201cWhat if they don\u2019t believe me?\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">At one point, God is ready to kill Moses. (Exodus 4:24)&nbsp; <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">I can\u2019t say I blame Him. Any boss knows you can teach skills, but you cannot teach attitude.&nbsp; Surely He could have done better than <i>this<\/i> guy. I mean, here\u2019s GOD, burning and smoking from the mountain top and commanding (<i>not <u>suggesting<\/u><\/i>) that Moses go and set an entire race of people free from the most powerful nation on earth at the time.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">And Moses\u2019 response is the equivalent of, \u201cWell, I dunno\u2026\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">No wonder He was burning and smoking! God\u2019s answer to Moses is:&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">(Take your shoes off and fall on your face.) <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">\u201cI am the LORD!\u201d <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">\u201cI AM WHO I AM!\u201d<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Yes, all caps, Even though no translation of the Bible&nbsp;I&#8217;ve&nbsp;seen has those&nbsp;words bold, italic and underlined, they most certainly are in my mind.&nbsp;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">THE LORD. The one and only God of the universe. Creator of everything and everybody. Not some golden calf or stone statue&#8211; <b><i><u>GOD!<\/u><\/i><\/b><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">So, by the time Moses gets to Pharaoh, it is abundantly clear that He is not messing around. Their is no vagueness, no subtlety involved here. When all is said and done, there will be no doubt at all as to exactly who is responsible for what has taken place.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">And the Egyptians will know that I am the <span>LORD<\/span> when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.\u201d (Exodus 7:5 NIV)<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">The way I look at it, we human beings are a little dense. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">I know I am.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Even when I think I \u201cget it\u201d I\u2019m actually pretty clueless. It takes a lot for the light bulb to finally come on.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">So, maybe what\u2019s going on in the world today is that God is up to something\u2026 big. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Maybe He had this planned all along and we are supposed to be <i>paying attention. <\/i><o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><br \/><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">Today\u2019s Praise<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\"><span><b>The LORD <\/b><\/span><b>is a warrior;<o:p><\/o:p><\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">the <span>LORD<\/span>is his name.<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><b><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;\">(Exodus 15:3 NIV)<o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When we look at the current state of affairs in regard to Christianity and see how bad they look, what is really going on?
