I’m very excited about Kinship Christian Radio’s new contest. As I am sure you know, a bunch of new Christian movies have come out. These include “I Can Only Imagine<\/em>,\u201d \u201cPaul the Apostle of Christ,<\/em>\u201d and \u201cGod\u2019s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness. \u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During the month of April, Kinship Christian Radio wants you to email them\u00a0stories in the Bible you would like to see turned into a movie and, once a week, a winner will be drawn for two free tickets to go see one of the new movies showing in your area!<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n When the contest was announced on Monday morning, Announcer Steve Ware said he’d like to see the story of Elijah’s life turned into a movie. I think that’s a fantastic idea. I’d love to see the prophets of Baal fruitlessly dancing around their altar as Elijah taunted them:\u00a0\u201cShout louder! Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.”\u00a0 I’m sure Mel Gibson would spare no expense in filming the subsequent scenes in the Kishon Valley. (See 1 Kings 18:16-40)<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Now, obviously, I am not eligible to win because (technically) I am a member of the staff.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n BUT, I have an idea for a movie I’d really, really love to see someone produce:<\/span><\/p>\n As you know, I’ve written before about how revival is going on in other parts of the world. While our brothers and sisters in Christ here in this country bemoan our “Post-christian America,” Christianity is on fire in other parts of the world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n I would love to see a movie, say in a documentary style, that just shows my brothers and sisters in Christ worshiping the LORD and being the hands and feet of Jesus.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n A year or two ago, a pastor from Kenya posted a video on Fac<\/span>ebook of his congregation worshiping with a fervent song of praise and I could feel<\/em> the Holy Spirit even though I didn’t understand a word.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Likewise, I recently saw a video of men walking through the streets of Brazil in a large group praying for the people and the neighborhood and I knew<\/em> the Holy Spirit was at work in them and through them. Again, I didn’t understand a word but I knew exactly what was happening.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n There’s a church in Seoul, South Korea, called Yoido Full Gospel Church with 800,000 members. Church services run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Sunday in an auditorium that seats 15,000. There are many campuses of this, the largest mega-church in the world, and despite controversy and problems within the church administration, people say the presence of the Holy Spirit brings awe during services.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n As I wrote last week, I have just returned from Guatemala. While there, I attended La Via Dolorosa (Passion Play) at Fraternidad, a megachurch in Guatemala City with six levels to its parking ramp structure and seating for over 12,000. Weekly attendance is estimated at 20,000, which is about 65% more than the largest church in the Twin Cities. Obviously, something is going on here.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Revival is happening in Iran, India, Ghana, Brazil, Ethiopia, Romania, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Singapore, Guatemala, and China. It’s happening in giant mega-churches and tiny little tribes in the African bush. It’s even happening right here in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n God is most assuredly not dead and, at this very moment in history, we have the ability to see the body of Christ in action as we have never seen it before.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n While it’s actually difficult\u00a0 to find good, solid information on revival via the standard search engines, we know it is happening but the churches and congregations where it’s taking place mostly don’t click the right Google buttons to lead us to film of them worshiping.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n So, please Christian film makers, please go out and find these churches and congregations and show us<\/em> the Holy Spirit at work.
